The role of an artist as it always has been is to question culture, our belief system, the perception of reality and the understanding of our human experience. Art at its best brings to focus our consciousness and at times expands it. 2 My current body of work in ‘River of Dreams Tarot' is my attempt to examine symbols and icons that have been embedded in the human psyche for many millennia and imagine them through a form of visual vocabulary, a language which is a snippet of the greater plot or story of ‘the soul's odyssey’. Each artwork is a snapshot of a state of mind, a feeling, or a physical situation that reflects something within us or around us. 

For me, as a student (and teacher) of mystical yoga, numerology, and Western Kabbalah, the mystical realm of life is represented as form and function within the tarot deck. It has been a pleasurable process for me to express myself through that realm, and imagine myself and others as different characters, and archetypes in a plot, enacting multiple roles of our hero/heroin’s journey through these icons and symbols. Looking at the skewed side of 'The Wheel of Fortune' or 'The Fool' is poking fun at the medium itself (the Tarot), an attempt to shuffle myth and play into a divination tool that was held in fear, awe, and reverence through most of its elaborate history. Most of my art, in the form of paintings, prints and some sculptural work is about the energetic spiritual side of the familiar and at times the daily simple objects around us. My hope is that this deck which is (schedule to be published in 2024, will spark the user’s imagination to find something of their own joy experience in it. ‘River of dreams’ Tarot Deck is a labor of love which started in 2010 - in 2022 I have exhibited some of the decks body of work on at Cafe Frida Gallery Santa Rosa. My ‘Seeds’ paintings are on display in a group show organized by the 20th Annual National Arts Program in Santa Rosa Feb-April 2023.
